about

Interlude with Fun Machine relies on textures, patterns, found sounds, presets, rhythm boxes, inversion of background and foreground elements, and the very deadpan sense of humor of Steve Fisk (Pell Mell, Pigeonhed) and Bob Beerman (Pell Mell). Anyone who gets buzzed from the warm glow of keyboards such as the Optigan and the Mellotron will find this album equally intoxicating — with its casual, DIY, homespun aesthetic, odd combination of kitschy lounge and soundtrack-ish music, “modern” electronic sounds, and, most notably, quasi-Wurlitzer frailty of the titular home organʼs built-in rhythm box and chord accompaniment presets.
